The Zapata Ranch is a 103,000 acre cattle and bison ranch that is owned by The Nature Conservancy and operated by Zapata Partners, LLC. Zapata Partners is owned by a third generation ranching family that prides themselves in managing all aspects of

their business in an way that enhances the ecosystem that we live in. We have all inclusive ranch vacation packages where we take guests out into the land to experience our way of life and learn about how we manage the land, cattle and bison. Overnight Lodging-

We have recently identified the need for lodging and food accomodations in the area of the Great Sand Dunes National Park

and we are opening our rooms that are not being used for all inclusive guests to overnight visitors of the area. If you would like to stay with us please call no more than two weeks in advance at 888-5-ZAPATA (927282) ex 110. Inclucded in your stay is private lodging, all meals prepared by our on staff chef, a hot tub and hiking trails. We also have wireless internet and a guest computer for checking emails and printing boarding passes. Our rooms rates are $200 to $300 per night, double occupancy. As you will see as you view our website we have a very beautiful lodge and facilities with private rooms that all have their own bathroom.

Bison Tours-

Whether you are staying with us or just in the area for the day you may consider going on a bison tour. Our bison herd (2,000 head) is located on the north end of the ranch known as the Medano and roam on approximately 50,000 acres. They are a conservation herd therefore we manage in a very strategic way. The tour is around two hours long and during that time you will have the opportunity to see various species of wildlife including bison, coyote, elk, deer, antelope, rabbits, porcupines, great horned owls, red tailed hawks and a large number of birds. You will also walk thru the historic Medano Ranch Headquarters that dates back into the late 1800's. We will also take you thru our bison working facilities where we gather all the bison in November of every year. The rates for a bison tour are $50 per adult, $25 for kids 12 and under with 5 and under being free with a minimum of four paying customers for each tour. If you have less than four people please call us and we will put you on the list and create a group for you. Bison Tours are by reservation only. Changes in our program

We have made a few changes from the past few years. We are no longer offering an open dining room to individuals that are not staying overnight on the ranch or horseback riding trips to folks who are not all inclusive visitors.
